posted on

Car wash facilities have come a long way since the Automatic Laundry car wash was opened in Detroit in 1914! Tommy’s Express brings us into the future and many miles away from manual washes. The All About The Car podcast team visits General Manager Corey Heinz on location at Tommy’s Express in Weston, WI.

What makes Tommy’s unique?

  • Tommy Transporter Belt – not chain driven
  • Patented back license plate recognition
  • Advanced water reclamation technology - 50% of water reclaimed
  • Free dual- hose vacuums and mat washing stations
  • Tire Shine – protective gloss coating
  • 18 blowers and 2 heated dryers to ensure vehicle is 85% dry after wash

Locations

Tommy’s Express is a franchise company with about 100 locations all over the U.S. 50-100 more locations are expected to open soon. In Wisconsin, there are currently locations in Wausau, Weston, and Eau Claire. Tommy’s Express will be opening in Stevens Point later this year.

Giving Back

Tommy’s Express gives back to the communities they live and work in. The Wausau and Weston locations regularly donate to fundraisers in the area. This year, they are sponsoring both a boys and girls Little League teams! On a larger scale, Tommy’s Express is partnered with Water Mission, a nonprofit organization for advancing clean water locations in developing countries and disaster areas. Tommy’s Express’ commitment to water conservation is reflected in their daily practices. Their advanced water reclamation technology allows them to recover about 50% of the water from each wash, using less than 30 gallons of fresh water per car.
